Banana
chips can be had during fasting or vrat. Before the fasting period starts, you
can make a good bunch and store in an air tight container.Banana
chips are made from raw/unripe bananas.
These
banana chips are good tea time snack or anytime snack. You can munch on these
chips while reading a book or enjoying a monsoon rain.
I
have seasoned the chips with black pepper and salt, though you can use red
chili powder or your own choice of herbs and spices.
Step by step banana
chips recipe:
- Peel one banana first. Pour some water in a bowl. Using a mandolin slicer, slice the banana directly into a bowl of water; so that the slices fall in the water. This will prevent it from darkening. Slice rest of the banana in a similar way.
- Heat oil in a wok for deep frying. Remove some banana slices from the bowl of water and dry them with clean kitchen towel or napkin.
- When the oil is medium hot add the slices and fry on medium heat. Stir and don’t over crowd, so that the slices don’t stick to each other. If the slices stick to each other they don’t become crisp. So you have to fry in batches.
- Fry till you see the sizzling and bubble in the oil becoming less and less and almost disappear. The slices would have changed color and become crisp too.
- Fry
rest of the chips similarly.
- When
all the banana chips are done, sprinkle some rock salt and freshly ground black
pepper on it.
- When the chips cool down, store it in air tight container and serve whenever you want it!!
