Pomegranate Raita recipe, How to make Anar ka raita

Pomegranate raita is one of the fruity raita which can be make quickly and served as a side dish with veg biryani, veg pulao or even jeera rice. Like any other raita this is too easy to prepare.
The raita is made with creamy curd with fresh pomegranate arils. It is a creamy sweet spiced yogurt raita. If u prefer, you can skip adding salt and pepper; and make it sweet.

You can make it the way you like. Experiment and do some variations. You can add some pomegranate juice to it to give it color. Or just make it plain and simple without veggies.
If making for fasting, than add rock salt only and skip adding veggies.

Step by step Pomegranate raita recipe:
  1. Whisk the curd/yogurt in a mixing bowl till smooth.
  2. Chop cucumber, onion, green chili and coriander leaves.
  3. Add fresh pomegranate arils and keep a few for garnish. Add rest of the veggies.
  4. Add chaat masala, pepper and cumin powder/jeera powder.
  5. Lastly add salt and sugar. Stir well.
  6. Pour the raita in serving bowls and garnish with the pomegranate pearls and coriander or mint leaves.

Pomegranate raita- sweet and salty raita made with yogurt and fresh pomegranate

INGREDIENTS (measuring cup used, 1 cup=237 ml)
  • 1 cup yogurt
  • ¼ cup pomegranate arils
  • 2-3 tbsp. chopped cucumber
  • 2 tbsp. chopped onion
  • 1 tbsp. coriander leaves, chopped
  • 1 green chili, finely chopped (optional)
  • ¼ tsp. chaat masala
  • ¼ tsp. roasted cumin powder/jeera powder
  • A pinch of black pepper or as per taste
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • Salt as per taste

NOTES
While making pomegranate raita for fasting add rock salt instead of common salt.
When making it for kids, skip black pepper and green chilies.

SERVING SUGGESTION
Pomegranate raita can be served as a side dish with any rice recipes or parathas. It even goes well with Indian chaat like papdi chaat, sev dahi batata puri etc.
