Mushroom Manchurian Recipe - Mushroom Recipes

Manchurian is a popular Indo Chinese recipe and is super delicious and tasty. This is another spicy recipe for all the mushroom lovers. This is the recipe for dry mushroom Manchurian. It can be served as a starter or an appetizer.
This is served with veg fried rice or schezwan rice.

Step by step mushroom Manchurian recipe:
  1. In a mixing bowl take ¾ cup all-purpose flour or maida, ¼ cup cornstarch, ½ tsp black pepper powder, 1tsp soya sauce, 1 tsp ginger garlic paste, Salt and sugar as required. Mix everything well. Add ½ to ¾ cup water and make a smooth batter.
  2. The batter should not be too thin or thick.
  3. Rinse, wipe and halve approx. 200 gm mushrooms.
  4. Take oil in a frying pan. The oil should be moderately hot. You can deep or shallow fry the mushrooms.
  5. Dip the mushroom in the batter and fry till golden brown. Keep it aside.
  6. Now in a different pan, heat 1 tbsp. oil. Add 4 spring onion whites and stir fry them for a minute on medium flame.
  7. Add 2-3 finely chopped green chilies, 1 tbsp. garlic and ½ tbsp. ginger.
  8. Add bell pepper or capsicum and spring onion greens. Leave some onion greens for garnishing.
  9. Stir fry till the capsicum is cooked a little but retains its crunchiness.
  10. Add 1 tsp black pepper, 2 tbsp. soya sauce, salt and sugar.
  11. Mix cornstarch in ¼ cup water and pour it in the pan. Stir until a thick sauce is formed.
  12. Mix well. Add the fried mushroom to this sauce.
  13. Stir so that the sauce coats the mushroom well.
  14. Remove and serve mushroom Manchurian hot garnished with some spring onion greens.

Mushroom Manchurian- Indo Chinese recipe

INGREDIENTS (measuring cup used, 1 cup=240 ml)
For batter-
  • ¾ cup all-purpose flour or maida
  • ¼ cup cornstarch
  • 1 tsp black pepper powder
  • 1tsp soya sauce
  • 1 tsp ginger garlic paste
  • ½ to ¾ cup water
  • Salt and sugar as required
For Manchurian-
  • 8 oz. White mushrooms/ button mushrooms (200-250 gm)
  • 1 medium sized bell pepper (red/orange/ yellow)
  • 1 medium sized green bell pepper
  • 1 tbsp. finely chopped garlic/ lehsun
  • ½ tbsp. finely chopped ginger/ adrak
  • 4 spring onion/ hari pyaj
  • 2-3 finely chopped green chilies
  • ½ tsp black pepper powder
  • 2 tbsp. soya sauce
  • 1 tsp cornstarch
  • ¼ cup water
  • Oil for frying
DIRECTION
  1. Make batter with all the ingredients. Mix well.
  2. Rinse, wipe and halve the mushrooms.
  3. Heat oil for frying
  4. Dip the mushroom in the batter and fry till golden brown. Keep it aside.

TIPS
The taste of the sauce can be adjusted as per your preferences. Quantity of black pepper, sugar, soya sauce, green chilies, ginger and garlic can be increased or decreased.

SERVING SUGGESTION
Serve mushroom manchurian hot garnished with chopped spring onion greens.
