Have you ever tried making Okra on griddle? If not then try this recipe, an easy and
delicious vegetarian recipe. Another quick to make recipe, gets ready in 15-20
minutes. Tawa Bhindi is a dry side dish prepared using Okra (Lady
finger/Bhindi), gram flour and spices.
The
pan fried Okra gives a twist to the typical bhindi recipe. So if you are an
Okra lover do try this North Indian way of making it and taste the difference!!
Step by step Tawa
Bhindi recipe:
- Wash the okra in running water. Wipe it dry with a kitchen towel. Chop off the top and ends. Slit the Okras lengthwise. Keep it aside.
 - To make masala take gram flour (besan), crushed peanut powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, red chili powder, garam masala and salt. Mix them well.
 - Heat 2 tbsp. oil on a tawa/griddle. Put cumin seeds and let it splutter. Then add finely chopped green chili.
 - Add the Okra. Stir it so that it gets coated with oil. Close the lid and cook on low to medium heat for 5 minutes. Keep stirring at intervals.
 - Once the bhindi is cooked, add the masala mixture on it. Mix it very well, so that all the bhindi is covered with masala. Now pour the remaining oil.
 - Let it cook for 5 more minutes. Sprinkle the dry mango powder and mix.
 - Tawa bhindi is ready to be served.

Try
  using small tender Okra. If you don’t get the small size, then cut them in
  half widthwise.  
SERVING SUGGESTION 
Serve
  Tawa Bhindi as a side dish with Roti, Paratha or Naan.
