Bread Upma Recipe, How to make Bread Upma

Bread upma is a very tasty Indian snack that can be made in jiffy. If you are bored with sandwiches and bread toast, then this bread upma is for you.
Sandwiches somehow lack the desi feel, change the menu to bread upma instead, and moms touch will come alive.
To make it wholesome add in some vegetables. Bread upma is a recipe which we look forward to whenever we have excess bread lying in the kitchen.

Step by step bread upma recipe:
  1. Take oil in a pan. Once oil is hot, add jeera and once it start to splutter, add onion and fry it till light golden brown.
  2. Then add chopped green chili, carrot and tomatoes. Fry till the tomatoes are soft.
  3. Add turmeric powder, red chili powder and salt to taste. Mix.
  4. Now add the chopped bread and combine them uniformly with the masala.
  5. If required, u can sprinkle some water to moisten the bread.
  6. Lastly add chopped coriander and turn off the heat. The bread upma is ready.

Quick and simple bread upma

INGREDIENTS (measuring cup used, 1 cup= 240 ml)
  • ½ cup chopped onion
  • ½ cup chopped tomatoes
  • ¼ cup chopped carrot
  • ½ tsp chopped, green chilis
  • 1 tbsp. oil
  • 2 cups bread chopped (6 slices)
  • ¼ tsp cumin seeds/jeera
  • ¼ tsp turmeric powder/haldi
  • ¼ tsp red chili powder/lal mirch
  • 1 tbsp. chopped coriander/cilantro/dhania patti. 
  • Salt as per taste
DIRECTION
