Ghee cookies/biscuits recipe

This one recipe is so easy that even child could make it. I would say that Ghee biscuits are the Indian version of shortbread cookies. 

This soft melt in mouth biscuits are so easy to make…I know that you are gonna try this immediately, because you already have all the stuff on hand..so try and let me know how it turns out.


This is my mom’s recipe. The ghee makes it so special and I guess you would not say NO to this cookie. These are REAL melt in mouth cookies. I couldn’t stop myself eating them. 

So let’s start.

Step by step recipe of Ghee Biscuit recipe:
Pre-heat the oven to 180 degree C or 360 degree F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a bowl take ½ cup melted ghee. Add in 1 tsp vanilla extract. Mix this well.

Now take 1 cup flour, ¼ cup powdered sugar and a pinch of fine salt and mix.

Add the ghee mixture. 

Form into soft dough.

Take a spoonful of portion and shape into ball. Arrange this on the baking tray.

Now bake this for 15 mins till the cookies are done. Remove them from oven and allow them to cool down.

Once they are cooled store them in air tight container.

Enjoy with a cup of milk or tea.

Ghee biscuits – Indian biscuit made using clarified butter

INGREDIENTS (measuring cup used, 1 cup=237 ml)
  • 1 cup All-purpose flour/maida (125 gm)
  • ½ cup Ghee/ clarified butter (100 gm)
  • ¼ cup Sugar, powdered (60 gm)
  • A pinch of fine Salt (optional)
  • 1 tsp Vanilla extract
DIRECTION
  1. Pre heat the oven to 180 degree C or 360 degree F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl take melted ghee. Add in vanilla extract. Mix this well.
  3. Now take flour, powdered sugar and salt and mix.
  4. Add the ghee and well to form into soft dough.
  5. Take a spoonful of portion and shape into ball.
  6. Arrange this on the baking tray.
  7. Now bake this for 15 mins till the cookies are done. Remove them from oven and allow them to cool down.
  8. Once they are cooled store them in air tight container.
  9. Enjoy with a cup of milk or tea.
NOTES
  • Adding salt is optional.
  • If the dough looks too dry, add a tsp of milk. Don’t add too much.
  • You can replace Ghee with melted butter in the recipe.
  • If you like cardamom flavor, skip vanilla and add cardamom powder.
  • Cool them completely before storing them in air tight container.
