Aata Laddu/Wheat flour Laddu, How to make Aata Laddu

Aata laddu is absolutely delicious whole wheat sweet commonly made during winter. This is another healthy and easy recipe, I learnt from my grandmother. I love making this laddu as they are so versatile, they can be made pretty much with any dry nuts.
Serves: Makes 25 laddus
Time: 40 min

Ingredients: (Measuring cup used, 1 cup= 240 ml)

  • 4 cup Whole wheat flour
  • 1½ or 2 cup ground sugar
  • ¾ cup almonds, coarsely ground
  • ¾ cashew nuts, coarsely ground
  • 2 tbsp. poppy seeds
  • ¼ cup raisins
  • 6 green cardamoms (peel and powder)
  • 1 cup ghee
Direction:
  1. Take whole wheat flour in a wok and turn on the stove.
  2. Roast the flour on low to medium flame until it turns light brown in color and you get good aroma. Take out roasted flour in a plate and keep it aside.
  3. Add ½ cup ghee in the same wok, and allow it to melt. Now add ground almonds and poppy seeds and roast for 2 minutes. Then add ground cashew and roast the whole mixture for 2 more minute on low flame. Turn off the stove. Now add remaining ghee, cardamom powder, raisins and the roasted wheat flour and mix well. Let it cool a bit.
  4. When the mixture is slightly warm, add sugar and mix it really well. Take little amount of mixture in your hands and roll giving it a round shape.
  5. Likewise prepare all laddus
Tips:

If the mixture appears to be dry and binding laddus is getting difficult, then add some more quantily of melted ghee in the mixture and mix well
You can also add dry grated coconut and finely chopped makhana (lotus seed/foxnut) to this recipe. Just roast it after adding almonds and follow rest of the steps.

Serving suggestion:

Wheat flour laddus can be relished and stored in air tight container for about a month.
